04/18/2011 KP Gym Night!!
1.) Keep my hands up and keep a CMD stance.
Tried to keep my hands up and utilize diving board punches during bag work. Need to work on stamina for shrugging shoulders. Diving board punches require a different mechanic than a normal punch. More things to work on.
During sparring I did keep my hands up. I let others know that I was working on defense and so they could have free reign. I was shown a few things with the peak-a-boo style fighting. Overall I would say much improved, more work ahead.
2.) Work on the focus of my eyes on the chest and use peripheral vision for punches, kicks etc.
This one was kind of a toss up. I still really could not see the punches coming as well as I would have liked to. Will work on this more.
3.) Have fun! and learn stuff.
I had a lot of fun last night. We did a good amount of sparring and I got to work on stuff I wanted to. Wish I had a few more rounds of pad work though.
One thing I cannot stand is when people say "Let's go easy" and they start swinging for the fences.
